Missionary Journey to Mindanao Philippines:
A Survey Expedition.
After a travel time of 30 hours, we arrived in Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines January 11, 2008 only to find out that our luggage had not arrived with us. It seems to be part of the missionary experience to have things start out with difficulty. We had only the clothes on our back which we would wear for three days. I did however have my camera for which I was thankful. The next day, Jan.12th we met our host pastor Kevin Ombao in the lobby of the LaureMar Resort Hotel. We exchanged greetings and went about discussing our itinerary. We then went to the church in Bayabus and met Pastor Kevin Rey Ombao's wonderful wife, child and extended family. We prayed for a man to be delivered from alcohol. Then we had Chicken and rice for lunch. After lunch we walked from the house to the beach and got to know each other better. We took a Jeepney ride back to the hotel. When the Jeepney made a stop a load of school children got on with us. We were an oddity to them so we began to tease with them until all were laughing. When we arrived back at the hotel our luggage was there for which we thanked and praised God.
Sunday, January 13th, Pastor Ombao came at 9:00 A.M. and we went back to the church in Bayabus for services. We prayed for a pastor's wife who had had a stroke, kidney problems, and blurred vision. After prayer she said she saw clearly. We had a wonderful meal with the whole church as well as with four other pastors. We went back to our hotel and walked the beach until dinner time. We found a fish restaurant out on the pier where we had a wonderful meal of Sea Bass. - read more -
